Meeting Ender – or Meeting Ender Time Is Money to use its full name – is an iPhone ‘novelty’ app (my definition, not any sort of official label in the App Store) that promises to help you ‘get out on time’ when you’re in a meeting that runs over.

If you’ve ever worked an office job, you’ve probably been in ‘The Meeting That Wouldn’t End’ at some point in time. I know I have. They usually happen when you are at your very best – carrying a huge hangover, extremely tired, maybe extremely unprepared for the meeting, and so on.

Wow – the new Death Cab for Cutie iPhone app is very slick, very good looking, and very impressive. One of my first thoughts after discovering it tonight, is that *every* band should be producing an app like this – right away! If this isn’t a superb promotional tool then I don’t know what is.

I’m not a Death Cab for Cutie (DCfC) fan (before tonight), but thanks to this application I’m discovering the band and liking what I hear so far.

Read on for more screencaps and details on some of the great features of this app …

iPhone Speed Dial / Photo Dial / Smart Dial – Some Good Options

Any application that makes it easier and faster to dial on a smartphone is generally a very popular one. There is no shortage of apps that offer solutions in this area for the iPhone – speed and photo dial apps, smart dial programs, and even a few voice dialing options.

This is *not* going to be a comprehensive roundup of all the dialing apps that are available for the iPhone. I was originally just going to look at a couple of these that launched recently, SuperDial and DialByPhoto (pictured above) – then I just happened to see a few others mentioned that sounded quite promising over the last few days and decided to add them in. So I ended up with: SuperDial, DialByPhoto, PictureDialer, and Smart Dial – and even gave Vlingo (for voice dial) a bit of a look as well.

What I found – happily – is that each of these is a pretty good option in its own way. I have a couple that are my favorites, but all of them are good potential solutions depending on what your needs and wants are for faster dialing. Hit the jump for some brief thoughts on each of them …

Town Hall is an iPhone app that provides a reference for the United States Congress, and a whole lot more …

It feels like lots of us here in the USA are more interested in our government again lately, energized by the recent elections and by the spirit of hope that seems to surround our new president and his administration, and anxious to see what our elected representatives are going to do about this economic crisis and other major issues facing us.

Town Hall is an excellent new iPhone app that lets you learn a whole lot about some of those elected folks that are supposed to be working for us in the Congress, and even interact with them. Hit the jump for a few more screencaps and some thoughts on why this is an impressive new app …

New App: Apples2Oranges – Compare Prices & Nutritional Info on the iPhone

Posted by: PatrickJ  /  Category: iPhone News

Ilium Software – one of my all-time favorite mobile software publishers and the producers of the excellent eWallet app – have just launched a new iPhone app called Apples2Oranges.

The program helps you to easily compare the prices and / or nutritional information of two items, even when they offer different quantities, serving sizes. Great for quickly figuring out which item is the real bargain on a supermarket shelf, or which is better in terms of various nutritional factors.

I’ve only just installed the app, but it already looks quite promising. Read on to hear a little more
about it …

Go Longhorns is an iPhone app that is dedicated to helping you keep up with your favorite Texas Longhorn (University of Texas) teams and players.

As I’ve mentioned a few times – or maybe more :) – here, I live in Austin (home of the primary UT campus) and I’m a big Longhorns fan. So this program had me at ‘Hello’, immediately grabbed my attention – and I’ve been trying it out since last night.

iPhone Dev Says Purposely ‘Terrible, Crap’ App Is Making Serious (real serious) Money

A software engineer who wrote what he calls a “terrible” and “crap” app in less time than it typically takes to eat lunch has since watched it shoot to the top of Apple’s App Store, where it’s now generating over $200 an hour despite being a free download.

We’ve talked a lot (a whole lot) lately about some bizarre and crap apps that make it to the App Store – but this story is fascinating to me because it gives us a ‘crap app’ developer’s point of view on things.

The developer in question, who goes by the nickname High Gloss, is 22 years old, and in his talk with Apple Insider he offers some great insight on his approach, his thoughts on *why* these sort of apps have so much success, and on some useful ways to look at the App Store as well.

Read on for more details on this app that is generating so much money, and for some very smart words from High Gloss …
