DirecTV app is now available

Coming to you with remote scheduling and program browsing capabilities.

The application itself is free! Downloads can be made through the App store. What more do you really want in your phone…

You will need an iPhone with software 2.2.1 or higher and DirecTV subscription for the service. You will also need to review requirements for DirecTV Plus DVR (models R15, R16, R22) and DirecTV Plus HD DVR (models HR20, HR21, HR23). TiVo Series 2 receivers with 6.4a software registered to DirecTV.com can take advantage of the remote scheduling over WiFi, EDGE or 3G.

Skype App is Now Available in the App Store

Skype, Inc. has just released their official Skype application for the iPhone and iPod touch.

Skype is a very popular voice-over-IP (VOIP) and instant messaging application that allows you to make phone calls over the internet. Calls can be made to other Skype users or to those with regular landline phones.

As restricted by Apple, the voice-over-IP phone calls will only work over Wi-Fi and not over the cellular connection. iPod Touch owners with a microphone can also take advantage of the VOIP calling.

Frustratingly enough, Skype app is crash-prone, it crashes way too much at this stage. We have nothing to complain since it is FREE but it can be a pain to use it as a desktop-skype replacement. You can now call those 1800 numbers for free from Skype.

The app itself resembles closely to the desktop variant including login sounds, look and feel and ringers. Take a quick peek at the screenshots and download it from iTunes AppStore.

Skype for iPhone is Expected Tommorow

Skype for iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPod Touch is expected to be released for free download tomorrow. The application will be completely free and it will be distributed through iTunes App Store. All Skype functions will be wrapped in Apple’s functional interface. More information will be available tomorrow.

25000 iPhone 3Gs sold for hours in Saudi Arabia

iPhone is already being sold in Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. According to CNET data in the first hours of the release of iPhone 3G there were 25000 devices sold. All this is regardless the fact that iPhone doesn’t work well with arabic text, sending SMS is not possible and websites do not appear correctly. The operator promised to fix this in three months. Apple’s partner in Saudi Arabia is local Mobily and in the United Arab Emirates – Etisalat.
